Overview of the method. The 38 patients underwent MRI, texture analysis, and pathological examinations. The region of interest on the healthy and affected sides were manually outlined in different sequences, and then MRI parameters of T1WI and T2WI, and the texture features on T2WI, were obtained using MaZda software. Sternocleidomastoid muscle tissue was obtained by surgery and stained with hematoxylin and eosin to assess degree of fatty infiltration and Masson stain to assess the degree of fibrosis.
